At the end of this lesson, learners will understand soil color and what it conveys about soils. In addition understand soil texture properties and their affect on soil profile properties and understand the differenced between soil structure types and structures role in soil profile properties.

You'll see how tools like the web soil survey can assist in understanding landscape processes, and look at how published data and soil descriptions relate to soil taxonomy and classification.
- At the conclusion of this lesson, you will be able to explain the concept and definition of hydric soils. Identify key characteristics of hydric soil indicators that are appliable in Pennsylvania, and explain the connection between soil descriptions and indicator choice and meaning.
